June 26, 2017, Prescott-
This double haiku refers to the Goodwin Fire, now burning southeast of Prescott. From 8 PM to 8AM(Tuesday), I will be manning the small shelter set up by the Red Cross, in the village of Spring Valley.
I would get packed,
then, I’d buy two tires
and head on out.
Mother Nature requests pause.
The fire down the road,
won’t be put out.
I hope the fire is put out soon – we don’t need any more destruction! Have many people been displaced by the fire??

There have been thirty homes evacuated, thus far. One mobile home, a hunting station, was destroyed. Others remain at risk, but the fire is 8 % contained, and progress will be made on further containment. The high winds are still a worry.

It’s definitely fire season! We’ve had a couple of rough ones already, and I just heard of one south of Beaumont. It will be a long, hot summer!

My prayers for the safety of all, and right now for dear friends in Beaumont and San Jacinto!
