One’s breaks in life do not come without knowledge, volition and action on the part of the individual. I have always believed this, deep down, even when outwardly, I was casting about for people to blame for misfortune, during the dark days of 1999-2011.
Penny and I stumbled a lot then, largely due to her disease being uncharted territory. This widowhood thing has also been uncharted territory, yet several good things have come out of it: I have had to wrestle my demons, totally alone, which makes the little victories that much sweeter; my friendships, with women and men alike, are that much more realistic; my inner discipline has been recharged and fine-tuned.
Breaks in this life don’t come from belief in unicorns, though the horned equines are a nice fantasy. I am, these days, carefully positioning myself, so as to successfully complete my working career by May, 2021, and then expand my exploration of the world. To do that, I recognize that the day isn’t getting any longer and proper attention to health is huge. So, I went through an orientation at Cornerstone Chiropractic and began a series of 48 adjustments. This is a prime example of why I opened a Health Savings Account, when I went back to full-time. Things unscheduled happen to young and old, but are simply more de rigeur, on this side of the seesaw.
I will continue to make, for myself, the luck I need. Whatever my spirit guides offer, on top of that, is pure gravy.
I believe that luck is elusive and cannot be pre-determined by its recipient. However, it is also possible to place oneself in the path of luck, so as to be ready when it shows itself. It sounds as if you are positioning yourself right in the path of luck — I hope the gracious lady will find you ready for whatever she brings!

True. We are creators of our own luck and misfortunes too

I don’t believe that luck plays an important role – sure it is lucky to find a coin on the ground, or to stumble upon a great sale on mangos. But we tend to make decisions/ perform actions that result in fortune or misfortune – that whole consequences of our actions thing. We do indeed reap what we sow.

Yes, we do reap what we sow. It can seem incredibly lucky at times.
